Penning down ‘for Nibbana’ and ‘about Nibbana’ gives me a great pleasure. I am an Advanced Trainee in TA at Nibbana. I’ve many beautiful memories of my journey here. Nibbana- the Space, the People, the Process, the Approach- all of these allowed me to conceive my Life Plan differently, including ‘conceiving my child’!! One year of learning made me focused and consistent, which otherwise I was not! The simple and effective processes helped me to look at Learning in a different way. I am motivated to constantly apply models like, connecting with people, the way I deal with a situation, my self-talk etc. in my daily life and enhance it. I’ve succeeded in handling crisis in relationships, decision making, emotional stress many times and still honing my skills in this. This helps me change my ‘patterns’ and explore new space within myself. I look forward to my II year of training and learn application of my skills and potential for my professional growth.
While training to become a counselor/therapist with Geethan, very early on I realized that the most important lesson for me was to keep my agenda away from the context of therapy. It was only about what the client wanted for himself/herself. This helped me build my skills in empathy, as a consequence I leant to be patient to become an involved listener. As I developed my skills as a counsellor, I found myself managing my significant personal relationships with renewed perspective. The counseling course has played a pivotal role in my life. I certainly did see myself grow professionally, and in the bargain, I also started to learn and grow into a person I loved being with.
“Journey”! the word itself is electrifying for everyone irrespective of their age. Infact, people become more childlike when they get ready for a journey. Journey sets its own realm with new places, new people, new dishes and all together offering a very new experience and lives like “humming sound of an evergreen song” in people’s mind forever. Some of us love watching Natgeo just to get a feel of travelling to new places. And I still remember watching the movie “Journey towards the centre of the Earth” with my spouse umpteen number of times just to get a sense of “how will it be?” I have always felt that travelling outside is more fascinating and nourishing until I encountered a Journey Inside Me with the help of Transactional Analysis at Nibbana. It’s a journey which has taken me to the deeper me and exploring ways towards a newer me.
One of the major inputs that I acquired from Nibbana’s Counselling programme; ” Learning to listen carefully to the client” and express what I have understood by paraphrasing. This has benefited me in as many ways as I clearly understood the client’s needs and was able to work out a time bound solution plan / proposal in consultation with the client. Now my discussions with my clients are more satisfactory and has resulted in successful closures of business calls. Thanks a ton to Nibbana for equipping with this valuable input.
